Our Mission and Vision

Our Biblical mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

How are we doing that? We are a people of blessing in our local community through ministries such as BLESS (Building Lives: Every Snack Sack), Recovery at Ringgold, school partnerships, community events, and Stephen Ministry. Internationally, we are engaged in God’s activity in Peru, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. Disciples grow in the faith and become more and more Christ-like through consistent and faithful worship, prayer, Bible study, service and generosity.

Currently, 36,000 people in Catoosa County don’t go to church. Also, Catoosa County is projected to more than double in population by 2055 and grow from about 64,000 residents now to 140,000 then. The county is expected to see the biggest percentage bump in population over the next 40 years in the 16-county, tri-state region.

To facilitate continued growth and expanded ministry for this coming harvest, Boynton UMC is preparing to do the following:

SANCTUARY RENOVATION

To honor our past and build a bright future, we will refresh our 25-year-old Sanctuary. Possibilities include new flooring (carpet in the aisles, decorative hard surface under the pews), paint, improved handicap accessibility, video, audio enhancements, staging, and narthex improvements. This campaign will also pay for the lighting upgrades and roof repairs we have had to do this summer.

NEW SPACE

To make room for the coming harvest, we will build a new metal building on a portion of the back parking lot. This will provide growth opportunities for our contemporary service, dining space, a kitchen (moving our current kitchen into this space), and two restrooms with one shower each. The space will also be utilized for kids/student ministry larger events, B-Kidz Day Out activity, community outreach, missional activity such as BLESS sacks, and when needed, disaster shelter.

PARKING

It is likely that we will want to re-surface our existing parking lots. We will also need to add additional parking spaces to meet code. These will be located on the property/house we own across the street at the corner of Boynton and Pine Grove.

What am I being asked to do through the Sowing Seeds Together campaign?

PRAY(1) Pray for God to bless our church…so that we might bless others. (2) Pray for guidance in how God is calling you to support this effort.

ATTENDMake a commitment to attend each week of worship during the campaign as well as special events and one home gathering.

INVESTEveryone is being asked to sacrificially give in two ways on September 14: (1) make a “first fruits” initial gift to the campaign and (2) make a three-year pledge. Let’s express our gratitude to God by challenging each other to give beyond our comfort zones.
